Celebrating Innovative Young African Entreprenuers
Ibrahima Ben Aziz Konate
During his undergraduate studies, Ben Aziz alternatively worked as a mason
on construction sites, a yam salesman, a clothing vendor, and a phone
booth manager to raise capital. When he was 19, he invested these initial
savings to start up Volailles d’Or. His inspiration for the business came from
a documentary detailing the levels of imported poultry in Côte d’Ivoire. Ben
Aziz saw an opportunity.
Ben Aziz has integrated the production of poultry into a process that takes
a single day. This method allows the quality and freshness of Volailles d’Or’s
products to stand out from the competition. This business model also
allows for highly competitive pricing. As a result, Ben Aziz often sells over
500 chickens in one day.
Ben Aziz has plans to scale Volailles d’Or. He has examined the potential for
new locations, new products and new distribution channels for expansion.
His ambition is to be a major business leader, significantly increasing his
firm’s scale. He also influences his community by speaking at local schools
and in forums on entrepreneurship.
